Paragon White Penja Pepper
The white pepper is harvested in Penja, in Cameroon's Moungo province, when the fruit is ripe and then dried in the sun. All stages of production (harvesting, retting, washing, drying, sorting) are entirely done by hand. The Penja pepper has gained a worldwide gastronomic reputation, and in 2014 became the first product from Africa to be awarded a Protected Geographical Indication (PGI). The volcanic soils in Penja give the white pepper a fresh aroma of menthol and camphor.
